Alhamdulillah for another year

Alhumdulillah another year is coming to an end. A time for new beginnings and resolutions for all.

For me 2023 was really a mixed bag of a year..both personally and professionally. Seeing what’s been happening in the Gaza, Palestine in the latter part of the year has been heartbreaking as well as devastating. I still can’t believe there’s no ceasefire in sight with the amount of videos being posted online daily from Journalists in Gaza showing the atrocities Israel is committing and no-one is doing anything to stop it. It just astounds me to see how are the world leaders are continuing to let this happen?

Me, like countless others feeling helpless, powerless and at times angry as we’re unable to do anything other than to keep talking, raising awareness about it, joining the protests and donating what we can.

Despite all of what the people of Gaza are going through, it’s their strong and unwavering faith that has been truly inspiring. Even in their darkest moments, Allah is always with them, ready to provide comfort, solace and guidance; this has really helped me in renewing my faith this year and I will be forever thankful.

We as Muslims believe everything happens for a reason, and by the will of Allah. So I really really hope in 2024, we see a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and a free Palestine.
In sha’ Allah.

I hope 2024 brings you everything you’ve hoped for, more opportunities to prosper and progress, In sha’ Allah.

I’ll leave you with this quote from Mufti Menk; when times get tough just remember there is relief and something even greater is waiting for you around the corner.

In life, we may not understand why certain things happen to us, but we believe that the Almighty has the best plan for us, so don’t lost hope.

It’s Halloween…

Hey hey! 🙂

Halloween is just around the corner now and many of you will have planned parties or have been invited out by friends to celebrate – by dressing up in different/odd/strange costumes imaginable, to party till late or even trick-or-treating; but as I’m a Muslim, I don’t celebrate it. So I’ll be settling down to watch one of many movies. Sounds boring, you’re probably thinking, but it is not at all boring because I absolutely LOVE watching horror movies! This has become a tradition for me of some sorts.

Even though I don’t celebrate it, I decided to blog and share with you guys these five halloween movies which I have watched and enjoyed.

 Halloween  (1978)

World War Z

Sleepy Hollow

If you are celebrating Halloween completely different this year than the norm, I would love to know so do leave a comment.

And if you do decide to watch any of these movies from above, or if you have seen them already; let me know what you thought about them.

Until next time…

Ramadan Mubarak!

Hey hey!

It’s my second day of fasting today and I want to wish all Muslims reading this – Ramadan Mubarak.

Ramadan Mubarak

For all the non-Muslim readers; Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar in which all Muslims fast – from sunrise to sunset. As Ramadan is one of the five ‘pillars’ of Islam, those, who are physically able are required to fast each day for the entire month. Fasting helps teach Muslims self-discipline, self-restraint and generosity. It reminds them of the harsh reality of some poverty-stricken families around the world, who go through this on a daily basis. During Ramadan, Muslims say prayers from The Holy Book Qur’an and they have to refrain from distractions and negative habits.

I find the initial days of fasting hard, as it takes time getting used to the long hours; currently I’m fasting from 3:10am to 9:30pm. However, in the next few days I’ll try to update you all with an in-depth post on Ramadan. So until then!

Signing off…
